For a while now I have been wanting something for our stair well.
The space is a bit of a challenge because it is very wide and tall.

I finally decided that I wanted a mirror for that space but I couldn't find one that I loved.
And then one day I was thrifting and came across one that I did love
and the best part...
it was $3!!
$3. Can you believe it?!
I quickly snagged it up.
I quickly snagged it up.
I knew it would need a little bit of work but for $3 there was no way I could pass it up!
I knew I was going to spray paint but I wasn't sure what to do about the brass part.
I immediately tweeted Kate of Censational Girl (the spray paint queen) to get her advice.
She suggested sanding and priming the metal part in order for the spray paint to adhere.
I took her advice and got to sanding (with some help, of course).
Truth time: I laid that blanket down in our living room so I could watch Real Housewives while I was sanding...
I made sure the metal was very roughed up and buffed out the nicked parts of the wood.
After sanding Floyd and I took the mirror outside to prime it.
I taped newspaper onto the mirror portion to make sure it stayed clean.
I let the primer dry a bit. (Probably not long enough...I got impatient).
I then used some brown spray paint we had in the garage and gave it a couple of coats.
And ta da! Here it is in the stairwell!
Floyd approves of the new addition.
I really like the way it turned out!
And for $3 it really can't be beat!
