If you've been around these parts for any amount of time you know Floyd loves a good snooze session.
In fact, I'm almost positive he lives for them.
That and peanut butter.
Ironically (or not) he's snoozing away as I type this, not shocking in the least.
Weekends are what really do him in...the whole staying awake for consecutive hours just really takes it out of him.
And who can blame him, I mean he's used to sleeping 8ish hours every day, a few in the evening and then 8 again at night.
And when you are sleeping 16-19 hours a day, being awake on the weekends is tough guys.
Come Sundays around 7 homeboy is done for.
As he does with all areas of life, Floyd has a few sleeping quirks:
Snooze Juice: We swear he emits this 'snooze juice' while he's snuggling with you that will automatically put you into a deep, deep slumber. He's quite the trick up his chunky paw sleeve.
Grumbling: As you guys have seen, Floyd gets carried to bed every night. We typically have to wake him slightly to carry him and 100% of the time this ignites a ticked off grumbling from him. He carries on as if we've woken from a hibernation slumber. Because his life is so, so ruff.
Frito Paws: Once he's been asleep for more than .2 seconds his paws get so, so warm and start smelling like Fritos. It's by far one of my favorite traits of his and if I could figure out a way to bottle it I would.

Frito paws yes! My dogs are the same way. And I love it. That picture of Floyd is super cute. Too cute. I want one.

Lately when we go to the dog park there's been a basset showing up and I always think of Floyd!

Ok, I thought I was the only one with dogs who have Frito paws. What the heck is that??? I wish I could figure out what that smell is and why.

I just told the fella the other day that Ernie smelled like Fritos! So funny! Ernie grumbles too when he gets woken up, like we've hugely inconvenienced him :)

I JUST shoved our pups paws in my husband's face the other night and said, "Smell them! They smell like Fritos!...not I'm hungry." Gotta love the fur babes. I think Bella needs to come over here one day and say high to Floyd. ;)
Isn't it crazy how much dogs sleep??? Floyd seems to be a champion sleeper though. The frito paws things is so funny!!

haha "being awake on the weekends is tough guys" is like the story of every hound dog I know. Wal doesn't wake us up for his breakfast if he has a play date on the weekends, which is magical since about 5:30 am is his average breakfast howling time...Oh Floyd. Such a cutie!

Hey, just wanted to stop in and say I'm your newest follower. I found your blog while reading up on Mr. and Mrs. Foster and I'm glad I did! Your dog is beyond adorable. I have two dogs and they share the same sleeping schedule and traits. I love the snoring and grumbling. One of my dog's also gets twitchy paws and the other night in a deep sleep she let out a long howl...it was the first time in 7 years I had ever heard her do that!
I love that you carry him to bed every night! My fiance attempts to carry all 88 pounds of our little guy up the staircase but I am always worried he's going to topple!

Hailey has frito paws too haha! I've always said she smells like a cracker, but now that you mention it, frito sounds more fitting!
It only makes me appreciate the pics you catch of Floyd MORE to know how rare it is to capture him NOT sleeping! I did not know about the Frito paws--amazing! It must have to do with the oil in his skin.....love it!

Off topic but I finally picked up some Luna bars. They were on sale for just $1 and oh my gosh I'm obsessed. They are amazing. I usually do zone perfect which are so good too but now I'm glad I have more options. All thanks to you!!
