The {2014} List

So yesterday we talked about what we did (and didn't) accomplish in 2013.
And today we are on to more exciting things...2014 goals and resolutions!!
This year is all about house updates.

I'll interpret my chicken scratch for you...
1. Master bathroom updates - Mister's bathroom is in desperate need of some updating- sink, vanity, faucet, tile, you name it, it could stand to be improved.  Lowes may become our new best friend.
2. Push pin map/map wall - Mister really loves maps and we want to start a map wall downstairs with a few we've collected (including this cool scratch off one I gave him for Christmas).  We also want to make a big USA map on a cork board so we can put pins in places we've been.
3. Mister's leg - Mister has a gimp leg and we are hoping to get him all fixed up this year.
4. New appliances - While this is a very fun item, the expense of it is not.  BUT having new appliances does make me all giddy inside.
9. New kitchen floor - We are in desperate need of a new kitchen floor (again, another really not fun expense).  Thankfully, it is on the calendar!  I'll be sure to share pictures once it's done!
10. Flying Pig half marathon - the Flying Pig race is an institution in Cincinnati and now that I'm a more enthusiastic runner, I feel like it's my duty to run this race.
11. Run 500 miles - Okay so this is my big one.  I don't know exactly how many miles I ran last year but from the app I use (Map My Run) I know it's around 300.  SO I am going to shoot for stars and aim for 500 miles.  And if for no other reason than every time I mention it Mister breaks into 'The Proclaimers' song and it makes me laugh.  Although, come March it may not be so funny any more.
12. Chalkboard wall - I am itching to paint the other side of our striped wall with chalkboard paint.  I think it could be fun to put our menu on there each week.  And love notes.
17. Paint kitchen knobs - As much as I would love new cabinets, that is one project that isn't happening any time soon. So in the interim, I'm planning on spray painting our knobs to give the kitchen a bit of an updated feel.

And that's 2014 for us!
What do you think? Who is going to keep up accountable?

  1. I'm with you on #4... it seems like all of our appliances are dying at the same time. Definitely not a fun expense but that means 2014 will be a little cleaner and a little more efficient!

  4. So fun reading your list! I'm feeling inspired to actually make one, now, though I am still working on my 30 before 30 list. But also this year excited to work on #1 and #10 around here as well (and you will have NO PROBLEM with #11!).

Actually headed off to Home Depot now to scope out vanities - if this baby won't nap for me at home, might as well pack him into his car seat - where he will sleep - and get started in!

  7. I LOVE the idea of making the other side of your wall a chalkboard wall. In fact, I have similar plans for one of the walls in our new house, pending we get the go-ahead from our realtor. ANYWAYYYY, I don't see "visit the Hansons in Hawaii" on that list, but I'm sure it's probably on a billboard in the living room, so it's totes okay ;)

  9. Awesome list! Seems pretty doable for you! :) I love the chalkboard wall idea. We don't have any kitchen knobs. I've been meaning to get some since we moved in. Maybe I can accomplish that in 2014, ha

  11. Great list!! :) We have an on-going home project/update list that we do little by little, but until we are out of debt we won't be doing any major ones. New appliances is definitely high up on my list- ours are SO OLD!

I'm running the 1/2 Flying Pig too and I'M TERRIFIED!

  13. I totally love this idea and the fact that Mister gets involved. I am always making lists for myself, but I think it might be fun for Rick and I to put a little list together. We will see what he says :)

  14. All of these are FABULOUS things that you WILL get done! I love your handwriting. I guess because I teach 3rd grade, my handwriting is big, awful, and looks like a child. hehe Excited to see how you get all of these done in 2014! You've got 11 more months. Totally do-able.
