There is a lake near our house that I often run around.
And when I'm running, I always see lots of doggies walking and every time think, 'man we need to bring Floyd over here more.'
So I did just that a few days ago and homeboy was so happy.
I think it's important to switch up his walking routine every once in a while and let that snout smell some new smells.
I let him sniff at his leisure and did my best not to rush him.
He will always require a bit of nudging along because if not, there's a good chance we could stand in the same spot for 20 minutes.
Because, all the smells, Mom!!
With a lake, walking paths and ducks to sniff out, he was in total heaven.
His need to sniff was far more important than his interest in selfies.
His eye was on the prize.
That prize being many, many ducks.
It's on everyone's agenda to make it over to the lake more often for sniffin and leisurely strolls :)

I'm glad to know my dogs are not the only ones who would stand and sniff an area for 20 minutes! I always think they are stalling (probably a half-truth) but find when I am patient with them, even if we haven't walked a lot and they've just sniffed out their surroundings...they seem more tired than if we'd booked it the whole way. Kinda like, "This is my walk, Mom!"
I might have to swipe this idea - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? I was thinking more of "Fletcher Friday". Fletcher has been up to all kinds of basset weirdness and I feel the need to document it.
Happy Weekend Floyd! Stay away from those ducks, you hooligan!
We are guilty of usually taking the 'usual' route with Dudley...but it's so fun to take him to places he hasn't been before (even if it slows down our walks due to the 'must sniff and pee on everything' factor). Have a great weekend!
Love Floyd :) I too enjoy a good evening walk... now I just need to add a dog to my routine and I'll be good ;)
I really can't deal with him. His little face makes me smile so much!
I totally agree it's important to switch things up for them, and tire out their sniffers...ha! We love to walk the pups around the ponds in our neighborhood. They don't mess with the ducks too much, and I think they are slightly afraid of the geese, but they love to chase the bullfrogs that jump into the pond. Abby has actually jumped into the pond to go after them. Crazy dogs! Hope Floyd is having a great weekend!
I just found your blog from the VTIM side bar and I must say that Floyd is such a handsome basset!
