Fridays with Floyd : My Buddy Charlie

Last summer a dear friend, Charlie, entered our lives.
Charlie is the main man of our favorite online shop.
Although it doesn't look like it, Floyd really loves Charlie.
Thankfully for us and Floyd, Charlie is back this summer!
#oppositesattract

Floyd and Charlie have been on a few walks together lately.
These walks are great for everyone involved.  We get to hang out with the neighbors and Floyd gets warn out.  And the best part of it all, even when Floyd does not want to go for a walk, he will walk for Charlie.  That is a sanity saver for everyone in our household.

I scream, you scream...

....we all howl for ice cream!

We live vicariously through vacation rules at our house.
As in, you can eat whatever you want when you're on vacation (among other rules).
These rules also automatically apply when you have guests.
And we have a guest, as you've seen.

So in honor of Monsieur Pierre, we took the boys on a bit of an adventure last night.
It started with nuggets from Chick Fil A.

(Floyd would like to thank his Aunt Casey who graciously sent him his own personal gift card to Chick Fil A to buy nuggets with.)
If you want to mesmerize bassets, put some nuggets in front of them.
*Don't judge, I'm getting my highlights redone next week...

And then we rounded out the evening Frosty Paws at our local Graeters 'Dog Night Out'.
It's safe to say we have two very happy hounds on our hands.

Fridays with Floyd : Basset Buds

You know what's more fun than 1 basset?
2 bassets.
Life at our house has been anything but calm but I really love it.
I love having 8 chunky paws follow me everywhere and having 2 big ol lumps snoozing (and snoring!) on the sofa at night.
Only time will tell what shenanigans will go down this weekend with this pack of hounds.

Have a great weekend friends!!

Moving into adulthood

Truth time- Mister and I don't have matching bedroom furniture and until this weekend we didn't even have a headboard.  And to think this past weekend marked 4 years that someone let us buy a house and pretend to be real adults.

You would think that in my line of work we would have these furniture details ironed out.
But you know what they say about the cobblers son never having shoes?  It's the same issue that the interior designer's house is never, ever done and there's always a project to do list a mile long.

We've had 'headboard' on our to do list since about day one of moving in our house.
So as to not rush into things, we finally crossed that one off this weekend.

We had always envisioned an old door of some sort as our headboard but hadn't come across one that we loved.  Last spring I had new bi-fold doors put on my closet and suddenly we had an old (free!) door- jackpot!

And finally this weekend I got around to painting it, with some help of course
and we really, really love how it turned out!
I sorta love the quirky hole for the door handle at the top but I think I want a crystal or some sort of fun knob to put in there eventually.  I think a trip to Anthropologie is in order.
And now I feel like we are sorta, maybe, just about real adults, with almost a real bedroom suite.

Now who wants to help us with nightstands?

Stop back by tomorrow to see how this was the easiest (and cheapest) DIY I've done in awhile!

Weekend Wrap Up : Double Hound Town

This long weekend has been one for the books and I really didn't want it to end.

For one, I feel like I've been off work for 5+ days and it's been awesome.
The weather has been TOP notch (and we deserve that after this winter, that's for sure) and
I got hug Casey's neck on Friday.
On Friday I took a quick jaunt to and from Knoxville and met Casey and Pierre for dinner to pick up Pierre for his summer stay at Camp Floyd's house.
Pierre is staying with us for a bit and to say we love having 8 chunky paws and 4 long ears in the house is an understatement.
Walking two dogs in a whole new world but I sorta love it.

Not to mention, we've had a LOT of help this weekend getting everything accomplished on our to do list.
Saturday we did a lot of yard work and a DIY project (reveal and instructions coming later this week!).
Pierre helped me with some measurements.

Sunday we met some friends at the park and Pierre preferred to rest on Mister's shoulder
and then park it on the chair for the day.
Mister and I rounded out the beautiful day with grabbing some drinks and apps around town and soaking up the great weather.

Monday I went for a run, walked the boys and then made some yummy food for a cookout.  You  haven't lived until you've tried cooking with two bassets under your feet.
And all the cooking really wore them out...
Just FYI, it may turn into the Floyd and Pierre show around here for the next little bit - they are just too cute together.

Floyd's Friends : Miss New Judy

Rhello friends, Froyd here today!
Mama says we have a very, VERY special visitor today and I have to agree with her.  I would add very pretty to that intro as well.
Although I hear that the crazy rady is somehow involved in that and we all know my love/hate relationship with that her...
Let's all just take a moment and pray for Judy's sanity.
Take it away pretty princess Judy!
_____________________________________________________________________

Hi Floyd's Friends!
Judy here! #JudyHanson if we're getting technical. My mom LOVES social media, so of course I have my own hashtag.

My mom blogs over at CommuniKait--it's a "lifestyle" blog. What does that mean anyway? To me, that means I have to pose for photos that she can post for all her fake internet friends.
Look at what I put up with.

Sometimes she writes about other things that aren't nearly as fun as me--like what she and dad do on weekends while I'm locked in my crate and all the food she cooks in the kitchen but doesn't let me taste. RUDE! One time, I stole a tray of meatballs when mom was preparing for a party for dad. #allidoiswin

I'm only 4 months old, but I already have my parents wrapped around my little dew claws. You want to know how I know this? They flew on an airplane to come get me in Maui. Who does that?! Crazy dog people, that's who. Thankfully, I'm not a dog. See? I have my own seat in the car.

I love going for car rides, eating peanut butter out of my Kong and chasing birds on walks. I haven't been to the beach yet, but I think I'm really going to love digging in the sand. Mom always tells me how beautiful I am and she's right--I'm totes adorbs. Except for Monday when I took a dump on her couch--she refused to call me beautiful that day. But hey, I'm still a puppy--yeah, that's what we will go with.
Mom and Sarah are such good blog friends that she might come visit me, isn't that exciting? I'm just hoping that my boyfriend Floyd can somehow make it on the airplane ;)

Thanks for having me today, Floyd! Sending big sloppy not-puppy kisses to you!

See I told you guys Judy was a princess.
Isn't she the prettiest??
I can't decide if I love her more in her studious glasses or in her bunny costume.
Judy, I would be more than happy to come visit you, but rets make sure da crazy rady is on her own vacation.
Now, for the real question, do I need my own hashtag?

Rhank you again Judy, slobbery kisses are being sent your way and if anyone wants to be a part of Floyd's friends just shoot da mama an email at totalbassetcase{at}gmail{com} and we will get you on the schedule!

Floyd's Friends : Michabella

Happy Friday, friends!
The sun has actually been shining and it's been above 20 degrees.
Those are reasons to celebrate.

Sorry for the radio silence the past couple of days.
True Detective has taken over our lives and we are anxiously awaiting the finale on Sunday, it can not come soon enough.
Anyone else watch this show?! Are you as obsessed as we are?!

Floyd is not impressed at all but always welcomes a warm, unmoving lap to sleep on.

Michelle and her adorable babes are joining us today and I am quite certain that they would all get along very, very well with Mr. Floyd.  They seem to love all of the same things!
Make sure you check out Michelle's blog for more on her and her pups and her exciting news!

Thanks to Sarah and Floyd for having me and my crazy bunch today! My name is Michelle and I blog over at michabella's coffeehouse. Jax and Gemma are my rescued furry children and talked about quite often on my blog. I LOVE being a fur-mom!

I asked them what they would like to share with Floyd and his friends and to my surprise they wanted me to share their favorite things (like Ellen). Shocking because, as most siblings, they don't share things very well. They must've been on a treat-high.

Jax & Gemma's Favorite Things:

+TREATS
{ANYTHING, lol! They are on a special diet so unbeknownst to them they get healthy treats. I love to save money so I typically wait til certain treats are on sale or I get them from Amazon.com}
"Will work for treats"

+CUDDLING
{Jax wanted nothing to do with Gemma for a good month when we first got her. Now they're inseparable and it melts mommy's heart.}

+CAR RIDES {Jax}

+TOYS: Stuffed Animals, Bones, Balls, Plastic Bottles
{Jax destroys them within minutes so we have bits and pieces of what's left of stuffed animals! Therefore, I shop for toys at Ross, TJMaxx, Amazon.com, and the clearance/sales items}

+'OUTSIDE'
{Sunbathing, beach, dog park, hiking, walks}

+NAPS, NAPS, & MORE NAPS
{They're pretty darn good at it.}

+SPECIAL FOOD BOWLS
{Okay fine, these are my personal favorite!}

Time for us to head over to the dog park! Thanks for reading!

You can see more of Jax and Gemma on my blog and Instagram.

Thank you Jax, Gemma and Michelle!!
I just can't with that picture of them snuggling, it's too adorable.

Have a really, really fabulous weekend!

Floyd's Friends : What's Dixie Doing?

Oh hey, Floyd's Friends is BACK.
And we are back with a basset, is there a better way?

I'm so happy to introduce you to Robyn and Dixie today from What's Dixie Doing?

Hi there! It's so nice to meet you! I'm Dixie & i blog over at What's Dixie Doing? so my grandpa can keep up with me now that my mom got married & i moved out! Speaking of my mom, her name is Robyn and she blogs over at Invincible Summer, which ironically happens to be my favorite blog of all time!

My mom told me all about this Floyd character and how he reminds her of me! So i just had to check ole Floyd out & boy was she right! I get so excited when Floyd shares on the blog & i am so excited to be one of Floyd's friends! He's my first & favorite friend.... besides my sister, Bailey. (mom made me say that) but Bailey is a Sheltie so she just doesn't understand us basset hounds!

you know there are some misconceptions floating around about bassets. everyone thinks that bassets are super lazy, but that's just what we want you to think! because, actually, we are pretty adventurous. for instance, one night my dad left a loaf of bread on his desk which just so happens to be the room i sleep in. as soon as i was sure him & mom were fast asleep... i hopped right up on that desk & got the loaf of bread! they probably thought it was safe because i have short legs & am low to the ground - but i have my ways of getting things when i want them. the trick is that i have to want it.

another misconception about basset hounds is that we are slow. which, again is what we want you to think! you wanna go on a walk & i don't? i'll drag my feet, pull the leash & stop to sniff everything that has a scent. you want me to come inside? i'll take my precious time walking around the yard as slow as i can so i don't have to come inside. you put food down & leave the room? I AM THE FASTEST DOG ALIVE & I WILL GET YOUR FOOD!

speaking of all things basset hound... i wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite basset habits!

Dixie's Favorite Basset Habits

finding a huge pile of pillows or clothes, jumping on them to fluff them up & plopping down!

going on a walk with my family, but only if it's a quick one!

laying in front of the fireplace or heater.

smelling all the smells out of the window! (and dreaming of being outside)

being the cutest dog on the planet!

sneaking up on to beds or couches that i'm not supposed to be on!
(but i'm blending in pretty well, aren't i?!)

laying in silly positions to make my mom & dad laugh!

hating nail trims & all things vet related!

letting my ears just flop in the wind!

what about you? what do you love about bassets?

Oh Dixie, you may be Floyd's long lost sister!
You markings are so similar to Floyd's and it sounds like you have a lot of the same habits.
Food on the counter left unattended? Check
Moving quickly when you steal something you shouldn't have? Check

Those are definitely true basset qualities.

Thank you so much for coming to visit today Floyd and us!!

If you and your pup want hang out with Floyd just shoot us at email at totalbassetcase{at}gmail{dot}com and we will get you on the schedule!

And the Lacelets giveaway winner is : Linda.  Congrats! I will get your information over to Lacelets!

Happy weekend, friends!

Floyd's Friends: Northwest Betty

I was trying to think if Floyd had performed any shenninigans lately and, shockingly enough, he hasn't. Though his newest charade is to ask for a 3rd meal around 9pm.  He acts as if he's positively going to die if we don't feed him.  He's been eating some new food so either he loves it or he's going through a growth spurt. Or he is just being a turd and trying to annoy us.

I am so pleased to have today's Floyd's Friends with you!
I have been reading Betty's blog for a long time now and love following along their recent big move and, of course, all of Dudley's adventures.
And if you need extra convincing, read this post about how sweet Mr. Dudley is.
______________________________________________________________________

Hey there everybody! I'm Betty from Northwest Betty. I blog about all sorts of things, but much of it usually involves one large, adorable, and funny airedale named Dudley. He (and we) are thrilled that he gets to be one of Floyd's friends! Dudley has actually been at grandparent camp (aka my parent's house) this past week since my husband and I have been out of town. Since we've missed him so much, we thought we should write him a little letter until we get to see him again. And hopefully through this letter you will see why we love our Dudster!

Dear Dudley,
On my 26th birthday, your Dad surprised me with you! At the time we were living in Winter Park, Colorado and drove five hours to Wyoming to pick you up. You weren't as little as we were expecting...and you quickly grew and grew.

Now you are six years old and you have forever changed our lives. Here are just a few things we know about you so far...

+You love popcorn. And are pretty talented at catching it.

+You love to be outside (no matter the weather).
+But you also know how to relax on the couch.
+Sometimes your hair is long.
+And sometimes your hair is short.
+Sometimes we see a family resemblance.
+A typical day involves lots of licking, sleeping, and just hanging out.
+We love you very much and are so blessed that you came into our lives.
Love, Betty & Cowboy

_________________________________________________________
Dear Dudley,
Can Floyd come over and eat popcorn with you and can you teach him how to catch it in his mouth?!

Thank you Betty and Dudley, we are so happy you came to hang out!
We love that sweet face of his!

Have a great weekend, loves!!
